Hurricane Ian Update

In consultation with the National Weather Service and local emergency management offices, all Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools will pivot to remote instruction for tomorrow, Sept. 30. All schools and facilities will be closed through Sunday, Oct. 2, and all services and activities will be canceled.

Students who have not been assigned a digital device may receive take-home packets from their teacher, and attendance requirements for students will be communicated by the school principal.

CMS employees and staff members will receive separate communication about work and reporting requirements.

Following the storm, district teams will assess all school sites to assess damage and clear debris which will allow employees and families to do the same. Another update will be provided Sunday via phone, email and social media.

We will continue to work with local officials on any plans for using our schools as shelters and will keep you informed of any of those plans, if implemented.
