Construction & Building Projects

The Building Services Department of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is responsible for providing a safe, clean, and healthy environment that supports quality and equitable school facilities for all children. Building Services is comprised of Capital, Custodial and Maintenance Services. The department has the responsibility of maintaining and operating the sites, building, and physical plants.

CMS realizes that maintaining existing facilities effectively and efficiently is key to ensuring that we protect taxpayer’s investments in our schools. With many of the district’s facilities dating back to the 1970’s or earlier, CMS officials have developed several major initiatives to ensure that facilities meet certain standards.

With the passing of the 2017/2019 school construction bond, the department is charged with coordinating the construction, renovation, and replacement of schools identified in the bond referendum Capital Improvement Program proposal.  Specific project information can be found on the Capital Programs Bond Construction site:  www.cmsbondconstruction.com
