Fitness Testing
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools follows the Prudential FitnessGram as the physical fitness assessment for students in grades 3-12.  
 

Charlotte Mecklenburg Guidelines:

1. Students in grades 3-5 are fitness tested at least 1x a year
2. Students in grades 6-12 are fitness tested at least 2x a semester/year
​3. ***Students should NOT be graded on their performance on the fitness test***

Fitness Test components:

  1. Cardiorespiratory endurance: Teachers choose either the 15m or 20m Pacer or the 1 mile (whatever test you choose for their 1st attempt should always be used for all future assessments)
  2. Muscular endurance: Curl-Up test
  3. Muscular strength: Push-Up Test
  4. Flexibility: Teachers choose either the shoulder right/left stretch, trunk lift, or V-sit (whatever test you choose for their 1st attempt should always be used for all future assessments)
