Qualifications:
  • Must be able to pass the NC school bus driver written and road test
  • Must have a valid drivers license for at least six (6) months 
  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Have dependable transportation to and from work
  • Ability and willingness to work with students and adults
  • Professional and positive work attitude
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job

The DMV requires all bus driver applicants to obtain a Commercial​ Learner's Permit (CLP) before scheduling behind the wheel training.

Join our School Nutrition Department!


School Nutrition provides healthy meals to more than 148,000 students and staff members in
over 176 schools each day. Each day 40,000 breakfasts and 94,000 lunches are served to children. This totals more than 24 million meals in a year. In addition, snacks are prepared for all After School Enrichment Programs. Catering for school-related functions and special events is also provided.

Career Opportunities:
Cafeteria Workers are hired on a continuous basis through Jennifer Temps Staffing Agency and Kelly Educational Staffing. These positions are part-time and temp to hire. Food service experience is generally helpful but training is provided. In this role, you will prepare, cook, and serve breakfast and lunch to CMS students. Individuals with experience in food service management are highly encouraged to apply with CMS for the Cafeteria Management Trainee program. Based on your level of education, a minimum of two years of experience in food service management (General Manager, Shift Manager, or Assistant Manager) is required.

As a Cafeteria Management Trainee you will perform a variety of tasks designed to teach experienced food service managers rules and regulations, record keeping, and menu management for the CMS Child Nutrition program. Persons in this position will be given short-term assignments to give practical experience in applying the procedures learned during the training program. Building Services

 on school grounds. The combined space (permanent buildings and mobiles) is in excess of 21 million square feet, and sits on over 5,000+ acres of land.

Building Services completes more than 90,000 work orders annually and their employees keep critical learning and workplace environments suitable for the education process meeting and exceeding customer expectations on a daily basis.

This team has a variety of opportunities available throughout the year, including: Custodial, HVAC, Paint, Grounds, Electrical, Carpentry, etc.

After School Enrichment Program

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools After School Enrichment Program (ASEP) works collaboratively with the principal, classroom teachers and support staff to integrate ASEP into the plans and goals of each school, as well as other CMS departments.
 
Site coordinators are available to work with school staff to meet the individual needs of students. ASEP supports academic goals through tutorials, curriculum and programming.  It provides time for students to work in small groups on homework assignments as well as monitor and provide assistance on homework assignments. Click here for more information on the After School Enrichment Program.

Substitute Teacher

 
sub.jpgThe Substitute Teacher position is posted the 15yh of January, March, May, July, September and November each year. When the position is posted, it can be located with our Non-Instructional positions, under the title of "Certified Substitute Teacher" and/or "Non-Certified Substitute Teacher."

Please submit your application online, and be sure to attach transcripts and teaching license, if applicable. 

The minimum education requirement for a Non-Certified Substitute Teacher position is 48 hours of college credit. Applicants must be 21 years of age. You will be required to pass a background check, drug test and submit two supervisor level references.
