Has your family income changed? Apply Now for Meal Benefits!

It's not too late to apply for Free or Reduced Price Lunch. Even if you have applied and been denied in the past, you can reapply online at https://www.cms.k12.nc.us/cmsdepartments/nutrition/Pages/FreeandReducedMeals.aspx

If students are approved for meal benefits or they attend a CEP school you could be eligible for additional services.

Do NOT complete a meal application if:

  • All of your school-aged children attend a CEP participating CMS school. Students who attend CEP schools are already approved for meal benefits.

DO complete a meal application if:

  • You have school-aged children in your household that attend a CMS school that is not CEP.

You may be eligible for the new Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program, to help families purchase food for children impacted by school closings due to COVID-19. The program provides a benefit on an EBT card to North Carolina families whose children are eligible for free and reduced lunch at school.

The new P-EBT program is in addition to other services families may be participating in. Families are encouraged to continue utilizing feeding programs at local school and community meal sites for free, nutritious meals for children.

Anyone approved now will be eligible for free or reduced price lunch for up to the first 30 days of the next school year or until a new application is processed. If a family does not complete a meal application within the first 30 days of the new school year their student will need money for meals beginning the 31st school day.

Students may present a copy of their eligibility letter to be considered for fee waivers for athletics, testing, college application, and driver's education fees.

If a letter detailing the status of the meal application is not received within 10 working days after the application is submitted, call (980) 343-6041 to inquire about the status of your application.
