Spanish for Native Speakers
The Spanish for Native Speakers program is offered at several high schools and middle schools for heritage Spanish speaking students. The completion of Spanish for Native Speakers I and Honors Spanish for Native Speakers II will satisfy the UNC entrance requirements for World Languages.
Our middle schools offer Spanish for Native Speakers I part A in the 7th grade and Spanish for Native Speakers I part B in the 8th grade. The successful completion of Spanish for Native Speakers parts A and B at the middle school is equal to completing Spanish for Native Speakers I in high school.
For those heritage Spanish Speakers who complete both Spanish for Native Speakers I and Honors Spanish for Native Speakers II, they may continue into Honors Spanish 4 and eventually the Advanced Placement Spanish 5 and 6 courses or into the appropriate IB Spanish courses.
Please contact us for additional information about our Spanish for Native Speakers program.

Arabic
Marhaba! We are pleased to have our Arabic Language Program at the Military and Global Leadership Academy at Hawthorne HS. The pilot for this program started at the beginning of the 2009-10 school year expanded with the help of a federal grant through the Foreign Language Assistance Program (FLAP), and was originally a K-12 program.
At the Military and Global Leadership Academy at Hawthorne, 9-12 students are exploring the cultures of the Arabic-speaking world, as well as building communication skills in Arabic. Please visit these links to learn more about the Arabic language and the Arabic-speaking world!
